Without lapsing into the metaphysics of Leibniz or Giordano Bruno, monads are the multiple that constitutes the One. Think of Robert Silverberg and his Urban Monads to understand the name of Pink Monads, an all-female European orchestra featuring four of the most interesting female improvisers of the moment: a moment of pure poetry full of life, led by the bewitching voice of Marialuisa Capurso, already seen with Jean-Marc Foussat, who burns with a thousand fires." Identity Issue", for example, is reminiscent of vocalists like Isabelle Duthoit and Elise Dabrowski. Edith Steyer's clarinet weaves a complex tapestry with Céline Voccia's piano, a veritable architect of the labyrinth. (...)

Rounding out the quartet is Portuguese percussionist Sofia Borges, who we've heard in recent months with saxophonist Camila Nebbia. It's worth pointing out that the beginnings of Multiple Visions of The Now bear witness to a certain sorority with the orchestras of Argentina. A less angry vision, perhaps, in 'Saadya', where the clarinet caresses like a warm wind as a few Mediterranean songs rise up, but thanks to Borges a heady constant where Céline Voccia unleashes the full power of her left hand. This track, like others on the album, is powerful and tormented: it rises like a storm under the pianist's ferrule before surrendering to silence. In the constant exchange between the musicians, there are snapshots, such as "Who Controls The Country", where Capurso takes the lead, and tracks that settle in, such as "Retrospection", where each sound feeds a story, in a rich dialogue between percussion and piano that remains the glue of this very fine orchestra.

Marialuisa Capurso is undoubtedly the detonator of this disc: she determines the colours, she induces the places, even if they are imaginary. On 'Le Vent s'est levé (sans soucis)', as on the earlier 'Rhapsodia Pneumatica', her singing evokes moments of traditional Italian music, only to lose them in the tumult. The quartet's energy is magnificent and surprising. You'll never tire of an album like this.
